Emerging Artists & Creative Assistants

Hot Off The Press Event (2009)
Foreground - Polly Stenham

Since 2002, Queensland Theatre Company has engaged a number of young, talented theatre workers over an extended period through its Emerging Artists Program. They are given the opportunity to practise their craft and undertake professional development and training programs specially tailored to their individual goals.

Artists are invited to participate in the program based on their body of work and involvement in the industry. There is no formal selection process. The prospects that the Company can offer each year depend on the candidate for the program and the opportunities that are available in the season.

Our Emerging Artists Program also provides opportunities for assistant directors and designers to gain valuable industry experience working alongside our experienced creative teams on a mainstage Queensland Theatre Company production. Creative Assistants must be Brisbane based and have prior experience in their chosen field, directing or designing. This is a professional development opportunity for emerging directors and designers, and so these positions are not suitable for school leavers.
